Gun Violence in America

Although gun violence is a serious issue in the U.S, it can be easily prevented. One solution that can reduce gun violence is by having stricter requirements for owning firearms. As stated by David Hemenway, "For the most part, it is much easier to be a legal gun owner in America than it is to be a legal driver," (Wilson 1).This shows how lenient gun laws are and a need for more rigorous gun laws will reduce gun violence. One restriction that would help prevent gun violence would be to have a background check on anyone that is interested in buying a gun. This would make it so that people with past crimes,and mental illness would be unable to buy a firearm. Another restriction that would reduce gun violence would be to have better security in school. This means to have metal detectors in each and every school that would prevent students from bringing any weapon inside the school.
