Grenades and Pyrotechnical Signals

The purpose of this manual is to orient Soldiers to the functions and descriptions of hand grenades and pyrotechnic signals. It also provides a guide for the proper handling and throwing of hand grenades and pyrotechnic signals, suggests methods and techniques for the tactical employment of hand grenades and pyrotechnic signals, and provides a guide for leaders conducting hand grenade and pyrotechnic signal training. This manual is organized to lead the trainer through the material needed to conduct training during initial entrytraining (IET) and unit sustainment training. Preliminary subjects include discussion on the hand grenade and pyrotechnic signal's capabilities, mechanical training, and the fundamentals and principles of employing hand grenades and pyrotechnic signals. Live-fire applications are scheduled after the Soldier has demonstrated preliminary skills.
