I Know What it is to be YoungYesterday When I Was YoungMy little darlings I am ending this letter/book, with a story and an adage that I hope you will keep in mind throughout your existence. The first is a myth about a frog. (www.quora.com) The myth is a popular metaphor used to illustrate the gradual process of change and how people can become complacent in the face of slow incremental dangers. The story goes to say, that if you place a frog in boiling water, it will immediately jump out to escape the heat. However, if you put a frog in cold water and slowly heat it to boiling, the frog will not perceive the danger and will eventually be cooked to death. The metaphor is often used to discuss issues like climate change, social injustice, or other situations where people fail to react to gradual negative changes until it s too late.Depending on which side of the fence you are watching from, you either see the moral as beware of small changes before it s too late or introduce changes slowly before people catch on.Remember the best way to control people is by instilling fear in them (like in religion going to hell and being burned to infinity unless you abide by certain codes of behavior)Don t be afraid, just be aware-there has always been scare tactics to control the populace. Then there is an adage is from the inaugural speeches of Franklin D. Roosevelt and John. F. Kennedy there is Nothing to fear but fear itself .During my childhood we were afraid of communism, of nuclear war and aliens. Now we worry about wars (especially in the middle east) inflation, of starvation, of water shortages of viruses like corona, of natural disasters due to climate change, of over population, of implementations that narrow our freedom such as 15 minute cities and omnibus laws, of Monsanto and lack of natural seeds, of big brother watching or the end of cash currency to dictated credit allowances.. The book was ORIGINALLY designed for someone I had never met, then for my first grandson S and then- my second bundle of joy: K. My intention was to explain to them how the world changed dramatically, during my generations watch, as well as informing them of their roots. (Realistically I may not be around to tell them in person) A secondary consideration for going through this labor, was that perhaps, there are a few more souls out there, who may yearn to be introduced to thoughts from a person of a different generation.
