In 2045 Boston, a massive glass dome traps citizens in perpetual darkness, where the only light comes from the sprawling casino that now controls the former United States. After three generations born without sunlight, biological changes plague the population, and suicide rates have skyrocketed to 1,120 per 100,000—so extreme that corporations now profit from death with sponsored suicide jumps and "e;prevention"e; hotlines that barely function.Four strangers—Jym (a resentful 42-year-old who just lost his job), Cimon (a 21-year-old gay man whose suicide attempts keep failing comically), Klair (a 38-year-old prostitute sacrificing everything for her son's education), and Akul (a 25-year-old drug dealer with a fried brain and empty eyes)—meet at a useless Suicide Prevention Center orientation. There, Akul proposes a desperate plan: infiltrate the seven-level Grand Casino, find TMD—a legendary substance said to let users experience death and return transformed—and reclaim their will to live.
