Goodbye,Old Ice Room

Do you remember the true flavor of traditional ice rooms in this era when new ice rooms are overflowing?The traditional flavor of bovril, boiled eggs and Cream Soda and Milk has become a reminiscence. Back in 60s, in order to imitate the Western Cafe, civilian ice rooms became popular; however, with the change of the times, the traditional ice rooms could not beat down the fate and disappeared one after another as Western dining rooms in full flourish. Hand-painted paintings, tenon wooden screens, colorful leatheroid stone walls, floors and even "e;spittoon"e; under tables and chairs will not be truly reproduced by imitating the antique.My name is Liang Guangfu, a local freelance photographer. I spend nearly 20 years to travel across traditional ice rooms in Hong Kong and take down the dying figures, things and objects with camera lens. Some ice rooms have already been closed down. Hundreds of photos are very precious.
