Golden signal

Two teenage brothers find themselves in a strange world, where there are no people, but there are unusual manifestations of life in the form of Flashing light - myriad creatures flying clouds over the planet, and destroying everything living in their path. This goes on for years. Until the Golden Signal is detected, flashes of flickering on the horizon. This is how contact is made with another survivor on earth.
