Gold Veins

Gold Veins, Storm Hopper's debut novella, tells the story of a Texan teenage runaway. Liz is the product of an abusive home, living with her mother and various boyfriends over the years. On the night of her 15th birthday, however, she meets a strange man that changes her life. Michael, who is twice as old as Liz, has a love for young girls and the fast-paced life of dealing (and using) drugs. He convinces Liz to run away with him shortly after they meet and eventually lures Liz into the life of drug addiction and codependency. Gold Veins documents their tumultuous relationship of a year and a half, and the event that leads up to both Michael and Liz revisiting Liz's mother to make amends for the past.
