Rehab Shariff of Somali roots was born in Aden, Yemen. Rivers is her married name. Most know her as "Kiki." She was born into a loving family & enjoyed the nomadic life style that was all too common in her region; change was a welcomed event. 16 is the number of moves she experienced by the age of 18. Having resided in Yemen, UAE, India & the USA, her family finally decided to immigrate to Toronto, Canada in 1989. Always a seeker of knowledge & truth, she went on a profound spiritual journey exploring many religions as a teenager. Her aspirations of pursuing medicine were put aside to get married, join the work force and later raise a family. The lessons she learned as a child about welcoming change were put to the test when her 16 year marriage ended with a tragic separation. The entry of a certain healer & subsequent others triggered her creativity. Glow is a passionate collection of poems inspired by transformative events that signaled rebirth & self inquiry. It is divided into three themes: Heart, Insights / realizations & Universal. This luminous work is a journey through one woman's evolution from innocence to "conscious living." It is the author's hope that the wounded among us will realize the blessings that hide within their pain. The most exquisite gifts are waiting to be received through the storms of our human relationships. Of equal importance is her wish that caregivers will nurture the creative nature of all children as well as allow the artist within them to emerge & share that beauty with others. Rehab, spent the past 14 years enjoying a carrier as an In-Charge flight attendant. She currently lives in Toronto with her two angels, Ethan & Hana.
