Gentle Warriors tells the moving story of the final phase of the Minnesota women's struggle for the vote under the leadership of the remarkable Clara Ueland. It shows hard-working, energetic suffragists in action -- marching in the streets, organising women throughout the state, arguing over political strategies, and speaking out before the state legislature. Abhorring violence, these women felt compelled to carry out a 'war' of persuasion and pressure to achieve their goal of equal suffrage. Now, largely forgotten, America's second-generation suffragists are brought back to life on the pages of Gentle Warriors, where they take their rightful place in history.
