Gavin Volunteers!

Gavin Volunteers is aligned to the Common Core State Standards for English/Language Arts, addressing Literacy.RI.1.8 and Literacy.L.1.5. Large color photographs of children raking leaves, serving food at a soup kitchen, cleaning an animal shelter, and buying goods from a bake sale along with narrative nonfiction text demonstrate to young readers all the different ways that they can volunteer and make a difference in their community just like Gavin. This book should be paired with "Let's Volunteer (9781448888511) from the Rosen Common Core Readers Program to provide the alternative point of view on the same topic.
