Thebook though is much more than the places that he visited. It describes his experience beingin Paris at the 50th anniversary of the Normandy Landings and seeing the then President ofAmerican, President Clinton, travelling from the Elysees Palace to the American Embassy. Ofvisiting Boulogne when it was still possible to do a day trip there. Of seeing not only the famousBayeux Tapestry, but also Bayeaux Commonwealth War Cemetery.
