Footsteps of the Father

When EMP attacks are launched in different parts of the country, severing connections to the electric grid, Peanie Wingate fears the worst and implores his family to take shelter at his countryside home in New Hampshire. A retired woodsman, rich in Yankee ingenuity and common sense, Peanie teaches his family members how to live off the land, imparting survival skills reminiscent of growing up during the Depression. Memories of the childhood he spent at his grandparents' farm on the facing hillside conjure up memories of the past... and the secrets it holds. But Peanie's adult children have painful memories of their own ... about him. Their strong personalities challenge him to adapt to their principles, and he must weigh his love of material things against his love of the land and his family. For, not only do they embody his strengths and weaknesses, they are the key to his survival.
