Schlegel, who has printed, in the transactions of the Batavian Society of Arts and Sciences, 1865, an excellent translation, under the title of Geschiedenis van het gebloemde Brief Pa pier, has also avoided the metrical form of the original, which necessarily gives a certain stiff ness to the style.
