Fangweng Notes on Poets and Poetry is selected from notebook novels and prefaces to anthologies. Lu You's poetic discourse is profound and wide, with unique wisdom, continuing Feng Sao, carrying Tao Yuanming and Xie Lingyun, as well as Li Bai, Du Fu, Cen Shen, Bai Juyi, and recently following Mei Yaochen, Su Shi, Huang Tingjian, and Zeng Ji, putting forward poetic theories such as "e;the work is outside the poem"e; and "e;the poet's three qualities"e;.
