European Movement and the Council of Europe (1949) begins with a Foreword by Winston Churchill, in which he states that his 'counsel to Europe can be given in a single word: "e;Unite!"e;' The book goes on to examine the history of European unity, and traces the story of the European movement, the political philosophies of political union and economic union, the Hague Congress, and the establishment of the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights.
