Esher: A Pictorial History

Esher’s story has been moulded by the three ancient manors of Esher Episcopi, Esher Wateville and Sandon. During the reign of Henry VIII all three became part of Hampton Court Chase, a royal hunting-ground, and most of the inhabitants were expelled. After the Tudors, normal life was resumed and during the 17th century splendid houses were built.
