A group of related sciences, including algebra, geometry and calculus, concerned with the study of number, quantity, shape and space and their interrelationships by using a specialised notation and mathematical operations and processes involved in the solution of a problem or study of some scientific field-is collectively known as Mathematics.Maybe the primitive man's quest for counting hunting/food articles /objects, led into origin of Mathematics. Later, as a scientific discipline it developed leaps and bound with the continued and hard labour of many erudite mathematicians. All scientific and technical developments/ achievements we see now in the held of astronomy, space, astrology, physics, chemistry, engineering and technology, pharmacy, medicine and social sciences etc. are the outcome of mathematical computation.Efforts have been made to collect information regarding as many great mathematicians as possible both from published and unpublished sources so that this could be useful to both individual researchers and institutions/ agencies.
