Empowerment of rural women through intervention of Self Help Groups

Self-Help Groups play a major role in poverty alleviation in rural India today. A growing number of poor people and mostly women in various parts of India are members of Self Help Groups and actively engage in savings, credit as well as in other income generating activities. The system has proven to be very relevant and effective in offering women about the possibilities to break gradually away from exploitation and isolation. In spite of the rapid growth of Self-Help Groups in India, the full potential of utilizing Self Help Groups remains untapped. This book will enlighten the contributing parameters of women empowerment of Odisha (India) in technical, institutional, financial & social fronts along with constraining factors and way forward for visible impact in the process of development.
