IN the following treatise it has been assumed that the student is in a general way familiar with the fundamental principles Of electrical engineering and to some extent with the theories Of the various phenomena and apparatus involved. For this reason, when the equations used are found in elementary text books, no endeavor is made to deduce them, but their applica tion to practical problems is given. The deductions are, how ever, made when not otherwise readily available.
