This memoir offers a vivid, personal perspective on a soldier's experiences through pivotal moments of 20th-century conflict and the subsequent journey toward family, healing, and legacy. It highlights the physical and emotional hardships of war, the bonds of brotherhood, and the enduring spirit of resilience and love that sustain life beyond the battlefield, Harry Kenneth Cam, Sr. (who went by Kenny) was a U.S. Army Sergeant First Class who served in World War II and the Korean War, known for his military experiences and personal life, including a connection with Elvis Presley. This twenty-four-year veteran's stories reflect both the hardships of war and the importance of family and camaraderie. He experienced the intense Battle of the Bulge and the Siegfried Line Battle, witnessing German infiltration tactics and the Malmedy Massacre, which hardened the resolve of American soldiers to resist surrender. He took part in the Siegfried Line battle and experienced the Battle of the Bulge. The European war ended in May 1945, after which Harry was reassigned to engineers and eventually discharged as the Pacific war concluded. He re-enlisted and served 24 years in the Army. Soon after his marriage in 1949, he was ordered to Korea where he was shot again in this left thigh, earning his third purple heart. Kenny reflects on how the war impacted his family life, his children and his grandchildren.
