His mother, Kathy, raised him as a single parent in the New York City area. Joshuas brother, Matthew, was 11 years older and primarily resided with his father in New England. Kathy and Matthew were everything and made up Joshuas immediate family.Kathy passed away at age 55 in November 2002 from cancer, and Matthew passed away at age 35 only 19 months later in June 2004 from diabetes.
