Dragonfly Satori: Collected Poems 1988-2005

Dragonfly Satori is the debut poetry collection by Robert M. Novick. Dragonflies, constellations, bonfires, mountains, fireflies, and love lead the way through his simplified approach towards symbolism. Using the ego as a springboard, Novick converges on the universality of the "I" and invites the reader to ruminate on their own experiences. The collection is divided into five segments. Each describes periods of life where the protagonist struggled through clumsy relationships, feasted on mythological reverence, and engaged in the process with tools ranging from spontaneous inspiration to psychedelic immersion. Dragonfly Satori represents the poet's attempt at capturing moments through imagery and wordplay while seeking to convey the purity of first thought, best thought. The poems are as close to the original writings as common sensibility allows and though naive at times, there are morsels of profundity even if it all seems completely accidental.
