Dombey and His Son (novel)

The novel "Dombey and His Son" was published by Charles Dickens in monthly parts from October 1, 1846 to April 1, 1848, and then it was published in its entirety in one general volume. Dickens had begun writing his novel in the Swiss city of Lausanne and was sending its episodes by mail to the magazine, before returning to England via Paris, and in London he completed the last episodes, then collected the parts and reviewed them in preparation for publishing them in a book. In its first edition, the novel was issued with a long and somewhat strange title, "Financial Transactions Concerning the Wholesale, Retail and Export Company of Dombey and Son," but the title was shortened in subsequent editions to "Dombey and His Son," which is the title by which the novel was known and has continued with it to this day.
