Digitalization as a Threat to the Nigerian Creative Economy

This book examined the way and manner the advancing digital technology and its sophistication has been threatening protected works in Nigeria. It is obvious that more recent technologies are busy pushing the older ones into extinction every now and then. Therefore the zeal for creativity is on the decline so long as the reward for digital works may not be certain which is not unconnected to the growing level of piracy in Nigeria. Any work in digital form today is automatically made vulnerable to digital abuses because definitely it will fall into the hands of unauthorized users. It is equally noted that while some of the digital equipment are naturally designed upon reasonable believes that they would be used to facilitate infringements of protected works, some are not. This book strived to proffer ways forward bearing in mind the complexities and intricacies in balancing conflicting interests that have been bedeviling copyright protections to wit; maintaining extreme exclusivity of rights and generation of technological knowledge which must be reconciled to forestall a robust copyright regime.
