DeVilliers

Devilliers is an insightful peek into the history of Pensacola's people of color. The book takes a look at the beginning of this coastal city and the ingenuity and strength of the people that lived there from the 1500s up to present day. The book concentrates in particular on the Belmont and DeVilliers area. In this area there was an entertainment renaissance that developed and exploded for several years. The fact that this financially stable area was created by racial segregation and then destroyed, in part by de-segregation, is an interesting tale itself.
