Desulfurization of Waste Lubricant Oils Using Heterogeneous Catalysts

The excessive use of petroleum and fossil fuels in the modern world results in the accumulation of large quantities of waste oils. During the recovery process of these waste oils, desulfurization is a crucial step. Currently, Hydrodesulfurization (HDS) is the primary method used for desulfurization. Catalysts play a significant role in optimizing the desulfurization process, making catalyst development a prominent research area within the scientific community. In contrast, extractive and precipitation desulfurization methods are less attractive due to their lower efficiency and the need for additional solvents and separate processing facilities.
