Defiance

Dienekes, the frailest of Spartan boys, is thrust into the crucible of the agoge, Sparta's merciless military upbringing, to survive and endure and become a Spartan warrior or fall trying. Through darkness and fire he travels toward his destiny, an end that will eternalize him and his people in time, and at the heart of a conspiracy, he makes his way toward an abrupt and historic death.
