The aim of the book is to shed new light on a chapter of Danish history which has been standing somewhat in the shadow of the rescue operation of the Danish Jews in October 1943. But the book may also give rise to reflections on Denmark's current refugee policy and the difficult dilemma between humanism and self-interest which the European countries are also facing today.
