Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. Though these chapters have appeared in the periodical press, I do not think they are any the worse for that. Print enables an author to see his mistakes, and I have endeavored to correct mine in the first impression. Not that I think my work is now faultless but I am sure it is in better shape than if it had never appeared in print before.
