Cousins Divided
On 23 April 1917, George V offered sanctuary to his first cousin, the Russian Tsar. But, fearful of the seeds of revolution spreading to Britain, he reneged on his offer. The fate of the Romanovs is well known, yet history is silent about George V's role. This study asks: was he right; would the Tsar's arrival have de-stabilized the country?
