The book "Countries" is a book by the historian, geographer, and traveler Abu Abbas al-Yaqoubi, and it is one of the oldest Arab geographical sources that have reached us from the days of the Islamic disputes. In it, the author described many countries, such as Iran, Turkestan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Egypt, and other countries of Asia and Africa, in a smooth and interesting description that tends toward rational and logical analysis. He divided the area he covered into four sections according to the division of the original regions. The book was first printed with the care of the Dutch orientalist "De Goe" in Leiden in 1850 AD, and then in 1892 AD.The author of this rare book is Ahmed bin Ishaq bin Jaafar bin Wahb bin Wahid, Abu Al-Abbas, known as "Al-Yaqubi", and also known as Ibn Al-Wadhid. He is a historian and a widely traveled traveler among the historians of the second Abbasid era. Al-Yaqubi enriched the Arab-Islamic library with valuable works for the breadth of his culture. And the abundance of his knowledge, Yaqut al-Hamawi has summarized it in several books: The Book of Great History, The Book of Names of Countries, The Book of Names of Past Nations, and The Book of People''s Problems for Their Time.
