Constitutional History of India

The constitution of India is remarkable for many outstanding features which will distinguish it from other constitutions, even though there were members in the constituent Assembly who criticized the constitution which was going to be adopted as a slavish imitation of the west or not suited to the genius of the people. The constitution of India was adopted on November 26, 1949. Some provision of the constitution came into force on same day but the remaining provisions of the constitution came into force on January 26, 1950.
