Competition among East Asian Cultures--The Significance of the Documents of North Korea''s Communication to Japan

"e;During the Joseon Dynasty, North Korea sent dozens of communications missions to Japan. In addition to their political and diplomatic missions, they also use Chinese culture as a medium to compete with Japan in cultural terms. Through this "e;intercultural competition"e;, we can win our dignity and the respect of our opponents. In this exchange between North Korea and Japan, although the actual "e;Ming and Qing dynasties"e; are absent, historical "e;China"e; has always been influential. Therefore, in the literature of North Korean communications, we can see not only the complicated political relationship between Japan and North Korea, but also the existence of Chinese culture. The articles of scholars from China, Japan and South Korea included in this book closely focus on the communication literature, and from a different perspective, the literature reflects the close and complicated political and cultural relations between China, Japan, and Korea in East Asia from the 15th to the 19th centuries.
