Comics School

Currently comics are used at Finnish schools in teaching. In the recent years many teachers who have graduated have also been taught to use comics as a vehicle for learning. However the general guidebooks have been non-existent. Comics are suitable for teaching in every culture. It is cheap: you need only pen and paper. It can also be combined to almost every subject. Since children obviously like comics the threshold for adapting is very low. In his vivid and inspiring book a teacher and comics artist Simo Koivunen presents all important stages of comics production: the innovation and ideas, story, characters, sketches, drawing and corrections.
