Organized by era, Classic Cars includes more than 50 of the best-known cars of the 20th century, including the 1934 Bugatti Type 35, the most successful racing car of the pre-War period; the Mercedes-Benz SL, which set new standards for design, opulent interiors and superior handling; the Chevrolet Bel-Air, the quintessential 1950s cruiser; and the McLaren F1, with its revolutionary central driving position and lightweight carbon-fibre chassis.

Classic Cars also features 12 large-scale gatefolds of key types, including the Ferrari Dino, with its beautiful Pininfarina design and signature Ferrari V6 engine; the Corvette Stingray, one of the new breed of powerful coupes to come out of the muscle car era of the 1960s; and the Pontiac GTO, a high-performance mid-size type that still dominates American car manufacture today. Each entry includes a dozen annotations detailing aspects of the vehicles' technology, from engine power and top speed to acceleration and fuel capacity.
