By Some Great Spell

There is a legend, sung in the traditional English Christmas Carol, "The Friendly Beasts", that tells how "by some great spell," all animals could speak on the night the holy child was born. This is the story of a little black lamb, whose heartfelt wish to be understood, just may have brought about the magic on that night.
