Breast cancer management for women over 70

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women, with an increasing incidence among elderly patients, particularly those over 70. This population presents epidemiological and therapeutic particularities, and is often diagnosed late, which complicates their management. Elderly patients are frequently excluded from clinical trials, resulting in a lack of specific recommendations for their treatment. Co-morbidity and life expectancy also influence treatment decisions. Treatments must be adapted to the patient's physiological age and health conditions to avoid over-treatment.Tumors in older women tend to be less aggressive, but around 48% of cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage. Therapeutic choices must take into account patients' tolerance of treatment and personal values. A comprehensive geriatric assessment is essential to personalize management. The main aim of treatment is to ensure local and general control of the disease, while minimizing side effects, in order to improve patients' quality of life.
