Campbell, also called the "e;Father of Black Texas Baptists."e; Campbell was born a slave in Kentucky and was sold to several owners in the Ohio Valley during the first twenty years of his life. He converted to the Baptist Church and fled to Canada. Later he spent twenty-four years in Texas, where his sermons are still famous today.
