The book is envisaged as an interactive way to introduce the idea of counting one to ten using familiar playing blocks to babies and toddlers. The presentation of the playing blocks spelling and counting are presented prominently throughout the colourful, full page illustrations book.

Block Party is written to have the reader and child interacting with simple, age appropriate actions, such as singing, clapping, tapping and humming. The text is illustrated to be visually appealing to children with bright and textually rich pictures of both the animals and the blocks.

The book is designed to introduce counting and spelling with familiar animals and blocks. It is educational without explicitly setting out to do so as it is

wrapped up in partying and adventure.

Finally the idea is this book would spill over into imaginative play. With children and parents being able to use their play blocks to spell and count animals
