Black History Heroes: Harriet Tubman

Black History Heroes shares the lives and inspirations of black men and women who changed the world, yesterday, today, and for tomorrow.

After escaping slavery, Harriet Tubman rescued dozens of people, including her friends and family, from slavery using a series of safe houses known as the Underground Railroad. She also served as a scout for the Union army during the American Civil War, she served as an armed scout and spy for the Union Army and later joined the women's suffrage movement.

An inspiration to millions, the life of Harriet Tubman is indeed proof that Black history matters.
