Biddulph

This absorbing collection of archive images documents some of the major events and changes that have occurred in Biddulph during the last century. This fascinating volume recreates those heady, often hard, days when men toiled in the coalmines and ironworks and women supplemented the family income spinning cotton and silk. Remembered too are the exuberant celebrations and events, the recreation and leisure of a close-knit community. All aspects of everyday life are recalled: schools, societies, church and chapel, transport, shops, men in uniform, the Grange and the orthopaedic hospital.
