Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023

The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (2023), which replaced the Indian Penal Code (1860), came into force on 1 July 2024. Passed by the Parliament in 2023, the new Act, along with the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, aims to revamp the Indian criminal justice system by replacing the dated colonial-era laws through adopting a victim-centric approach and addressing present-day requirements.
