Beyond Educational Injustices: The Long Journey after Emancipation to Achieve Secondary and Post-Secondary Education

Beyond Educational Injustices is an insightful reflection on how emancipated slaves and their descendants were denied secondary and post-secondary education in the United States, Caribbean, South America, and Central America for decades. Some accepted the fact that their formal education ended at 14 years old. However, others secured funding to open their post-elementary institutions. These institutions were expected to impact the educational and economic growth of a population who had otherwise been considered incapable of learning past elementary school level. However, learning achievements for this population have continued to be negatively affected throughout the years.
