Beyond Aftershocks

Beyond Aftershocks reveals a journey of deep pain and struggle, a quest of joyous perseverance and triumph. It's a story about childhood sexual abuse that had been deeply buried that surfaced when a young boy uttered just one word. That word was the trigger that changed what MavaJoyce thought was the perfect childhood, the perfect parents, the perfect marriage ... the perfect life. It was all a lie, bred in the secrecy of silence.

This is her story, one that leads to a volcano of unbelieveable terror; dark truths obscured with a veil of silence and shame by family, clergy and neighbors. It's also a story of love, the wonderment of a new environment, and discovering the power of SELF.

For MavaJoyce, there were many violators, tormentors, and disbelievers. Still, her story didn't end in darkness; there were those who stepped in to offer shelter and light. Her path from awareness to acceptance was long and hard. Untimately, she integrated her memories and most importantly, learned to love her SELF.
