Belief of the First Three Centuries Concerning Christ's Mission to the Underworld

Whilst the greatest effort has been made to ensure the quality of this text, due to the historical nature of this content, in some rare cases there may be minor issues with legibility. The following treatise was commenced nearly three years ago, under the supposition that it could be finished in three or four days, and with no further intention than that of trans lating some passages on the subject of which it treats, as one evidence among many that the Gospels did not originate in the Opinions of the Early Christians. It grew on the writer's hands, led to investigations which he had not anticipated, and was delayed by other duties.
