When Charlotte's master is killed by a cruel warlord who turns her life into a living hell, she goes on a quest for revenge that takes her across a magical underworld struggling to adapt to the influx of humans trying to colonize it. Post-Y2K, Charlotte Metaxas is a mild-mannered accountant by day and high priestess of a coven of occult programmers by night. She thought she had everything-power, wisdom, and beauty-but when Sigmar the Conqueror, a cartoon platypus, takes over her coven and rips her master to shreds, Charlotte challenges him to a duel. It doesn't work, and she's left with no choice but to escape to the very underworld that birthed her master, Aux, and its murderer. But what she finds is a world overrun by humans eager to profit off its ever-shifting eldritch landscapes and strange natives. Marooned in a hostile land, Charlotte plots her revenge-but will she survive long enough to exact it?
