Basic Issues in Economics and Foundations of Education

The book, Basic Issues in Economics of Education is a collection of chapters on various issues the makeup what is called the economics of education in Nigeria. The book is invaluable because it has been designed with the intent to get the attention of several people who are business-minded or intend to be managers of different organizations now and in the future.
It has also been prepared to take care of all students of educational management or educational administration and planning at all levels of higher education. Further, the book is geared towards meeting the needs of educational managers that are already involved in the business of managing schools and all business concerns.
The book is made up of thirteen chapters. Chapter one looked at the historical conception of the economics of education, chapter two is concerned with the basic concepts in the economics of education. Chapter six looks at education and employment while chapter seven is concerned with the relationship between education with consumption and investment.
In chapter eight, the issue of education and human capital was discussed. Chapter nine is concerned with education finance and evaluation. Chapter ten looks at Government and private financing of primary, secondary, post-secondary, university, and non-formal education. Chapter eleven looks at principles and practices in school budgeting and salary schedule. Chapter twelve discusses the basic concepts of cost. Chapter thirteen focuses on the purpose of educational spending, budgetary analysis and allocation of resources. In chapter fourteen, the book looks at foundations of education while chapter fifteen discussed educational development in Nigeria.
