The book is made up of thirteen chapters. Chapter one looked at the historical conception of the economics of education, chapter two is concerned with the basic concepts in the economics of education. Chapter three focuses on the link between economy and education. Chapter four dealt with national income. Chapter five is concerned with national economic planning. Chapter six looks at education and employment while chapter seven is concerned with the relationship between education with consumption and investment.
In chapter eight, the issue of education and human capital was discussed. Chapter nine is concerned with education finance and evaluation. Chapter ten looks at Government and private financing of primary, secondary, post-secondary, university, and non-formal education. Chapter eleven looks at principles and practices in school budgeting and salary schedule. Chapter twelve discusses the basic concepts of cost. Chapter thirteen focuses on the purpose of educational spending, budgetary analysis and allocation of resources. In chapter fourteen, the book looks at foundations of education while chapter fifteen discussed educational development in Nigeria.
