Aztec Warrior

In one popular image, the Aztec army was a fierce juggernaut, establisihng an empire by overwhelming its neighbours and sacrificing thousands to bloodthirsty gods. In contrasting perspective, Indian warriors were quickly and easily defeated by Cortes greatly outnumbered Spaniards. This book presents a story that lies between the two extremes. Through the eyes of an individual soldier, it shows that Aztec warfare was much richer and far more complex than previously understood.
