From Victorian English boarding schools, a training ship on the Thames, a clipper rounding the Horn to New Zealand, adventures in Brazil, and South Africa; railroading, prospecting, and cow-punching in the West through Texas, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Montana, and Mexico. Mentored by an Arctic Explorer, befriended by artists, musicians and writers in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Carmel, he became a hilltop philosopher and woodchopper reflecting with hard earned perspective and honest humor on his many adventures and lessons along the way.
