Aumapatam

Das Aumapatam (ca. 12.-14.Jh.) ist ein Werk uber Musik und Tanz, dessen Theorien von allen bekannten indischen musikologischen Texten abweichen. Diese Arbeit enthalt eine kritische Edition des Sanskrit-Textes, die anhand der drei einzigen erhaltenen Manuskripte erstellt wurde. Neben einer Ubersetzung findet sich zu jedem Kapitel ein ausfuhrlicher Kommentar, in dem die Lehren des Aumapatam diskutiert und mit anderen Texten verglichen werden.
Although the Ph.D. thesis on the Aumapatam is written in German, it can be useful to readers who do not know German. The main part of this thesis is the first critical edition of the Sanskrit text of the Aumapatam, which can be read by every person who knows Sanskrit. At the end of the thesis there are more than 50 charts, which contain for example lists of Ragas and Talas of the Aumapatam and comparisons with those in other texts. Even readers who do not know German will be able to read them.
Besides there is an eight-page English summary at the beginning of the thesis, which contains all necessary information on this difficult text."
